But it was simple logic: Of the ten films left (once I admitted that Django was going to make it), Turin and Django seemed the two films (presumably) remaining with the greatest mixed/negative support among voters, with probably The Master in third. (No one hates The Kid with a Bike.) The no. 5 and 9 spots didn't have films that finished in the top 10 in average rating, so I slotted Turin and Django 5 and 9 respectively (with the gut feeling that the support behind the Tarr was more enthusiastic). After those two spots, the worst average rating left was 8th (equal to 4th in the Skandies), which, since I'd already guessed The Master in 3rd place in the Skandies originally, fit in pretty naturally.

I ended up pretty far off on Amour and The Deep Blue Sea, though. And I'll probably only get four films' spots on the button (the three above and Motors), since I expect Moonrise Kingdom to beat out The Deep Blue Sea for second place.Mike Lee, director of Career Girlsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8838733.post-28338619293572607142013-02-13T21:51:38.196-05:002013-02-13T21:51:38.196-05:00Respect should be paid to the prognosticative/indu...Respect should be paid to the prognosticative/inductive reasoning powers of Mike Lee, director of Career Girls, who correctly placed The Turin Horse at #5 long ago, strictly on the basis of knowing that the film in that slot finished 13th in Average Rating, and also firmly put The Master at #4 + 8th in Average Rating, which is voodoo as far as I'm concerned.md'ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06055853987416332662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8838733.post-11031735080294753632013-02-13T13:08:47.374-05:002013-02-13T13:08:47.374-05:00"And I'd never have guessed this Anderson..."And I'd never have guessed this Anderson placing behind the other one."

Even though it was my favorite film of the year, I'm surprised to see THE MASTER place as high as it did. That's just based on the number of shrugs it garnered in the film circle on Twitter.

MOONRISE KINGDOM felt almost universally beloved in that same circle. I've got no quibble. It was my #2 pick. The Anderson boys knocked it out of the park.Nictatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12174200071752059810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8838733.post-76291288272630440992013-02-13T11:03:37.790-05:002013-02-13T11:03:37.790-05:00Nah, just gambled, given options in play, that lac...Nah, just gambled, given options in play, that lack of FLIGHT love elsewhere might carry over.Scott Renshawnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8838733.post-14438702392403869962013-02-13T10:39:28.552-05:002013-02-13T10:39:28.552-05:00I have a feeling that is not the only scene he mis...I have a feeling that is not the only scene he missed.

And I'd never have guessed this Anderson placing behind the other one.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05902486713575127522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8838733.post-31822446475599768622013-02-13T08:08:20.884-05:002013-02-13T08:08:20.884-05:00Pretty sure I just heard Scott Renshaw slap his fo...Pretty sure I just heard Scott Renshaw slap his forehead all the way from Utah.md'ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06055853987416332662noreply@blogger.com
