Just testing my ability to do YouTube embeds. This is the shortest example I've seen of a comedic principle that my friend Chris articulated in high school, in which something starts out funny, becomes unfunny via overkill, then somehow becomes hilarious through yet more overkill. (The classic cinematic instance being Steve Martin making coffee in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.)

Very funny, although my favorite is the classic Simpsons moment with Sideshow Bob and the rakes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwnIeyWC-W4
I have based my entire life on this comedic principle.
awesome.
Mike Myers called it "comedy of torture" on the audio commentary of the first Austin Powers film (or it may have been Jay Roach actually). I don't think this qualifies because it's never unfunny.
The example referred to in Austin Powers is when Myers is unfrozen in the present day and has to take a 4-minute long piss. We hear the whole thing.
Yay! You have a blog now! :)
