Ain't Too Proud to Beg

So it turns out there actually is a site that does precisely what I wanted, viz. collect pledges over a lengthy timeframe (though it's much less lengthy than I'd prefer at 26 days) and only pull the actual cough-it-up trigger if the goal is met. So if you'd like to read my daily reports from this year's Cannes Film Festival, or want to show your general appreciation for a dozen years of my blathering, or are perhaps just feeling frivolously philanthropic at the moment, please donate to the cause. Again, if I don't actually raise enough dough to make the trip (and I doubt that I will, frankly, but what the heck, can't hurt), nobody actually gets charged. Click the link above for details, and thanks in advance. I'll post a weekly progress report if it starts to look like the goal might be within reach.

More'n a dozen years, in my case - I think I've been reading you since 1994. Happy to kick in a little, wish I was flush enough to throw in more.

Fund your trip?

Don't go tempering your humility with skepticism a whole lot - the site says you're almost halfway there. I lent fiddy.

I was happy to donate some money but I don't see why you don't just add some ads to your site. It's really not that big of a deal to me if you have some pointless flash animations that I have to ignore on your website if it keeps you going.

This keeps up, you'll be in clover before we get to Tuesday. Whoda thunk it, etc.

I'll donate too (if it's possible to do so from Brazil), but agree with "Goldberger".

What do you think about someone in, say, three or five years from now, hire you as a "guide" to Cannes festival?
