what do you mean "National Geographic" ... there is no native-chick boobs in this movie.
Weren't you supposed to be Weiring a script with the Catholic-type themes ... boy that was retarded (for whoever hired you; bully on you ... getting away with manifest inability and all)
Good job, AVB. This is our closest yet to an "undistributed" film making the cut. I hope this doesn't end up mostly being Best of the Skandies due to uncreative voting.
I'm surprised this didn't place higher. Despite that, I'll launch a guess that an undistributed poll topper will make it in later.
Someone may have mentioned this earlier, but was 2001 the best year EVAR, at least for this decade? WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES, THE MAN WHO WASN'T THER and GHOST WORLD have already popped up, and there's still MEMENTO, IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and MULHOLLAND DR. upcoming. Hmm, will there be two Christopher Nolans?
I think it's best for me to crush people's hopes now: No undistributed film made the cut. The only one that even came close was Battle Royale.
At first I thought, well, those films are at a disadvantage, having not been widely seen. But that's really not the case. If Gerry and Trouble Every Day could squeeze in there with only three votes, then so could Turning Gate or Not on the Lips. It's just that (almost) nobody thought those films were among the ten best of the last ten years, which is a pretty tall order. Hong in particular suffers from not having made a single Consensus Masterpiece—if you ask a bunch of Hong fans which films are his best, you'll get a lot of different answers.
In fact the only undistributed films that got even one vote, in order of finish, were:
• Battle Royale • Tale of Cinema • When It Was Blue • Turning Gate • Love Exposure • Home [this was not me!] • Reflections of Evil
That's it. By and large, the movies people ranked in the 99.99th percentile got some kind of NYC release.

Aww poo. I really thought this would be higher.
YES!!!! ... the first film I actually gave points to (and only one performance so far too).
YouTube does NOT do justice to this opening shot! #obvious
That was pretty damn cool, even on YouTube. Can only imagine what it would be like on the big screen.
It is good that National Geographic is represented.

I have yet to partake of this fine film, but luckily a Netflix copy awaits me at home.
Hope you enjoy, but if there's one film I loved this decade that demands to be seen on film, this is it.

As a full-blooded Philistine, I watched this on my laptop. Which is a net book. #failedcinephile
So I suppose my iPhone's screen didn't do that clip justice either?
I have it in my Netflix queue. Hopefully it will be better on a large-screen TV. (No chance of seeing it on film.)

msic, are we supposed to be voting "creatively" or honestly?
Froilan, MEMENTO and IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE are both 2000.

Oh. Well, thanks for crushing my dream early and saving me the embarrassment of failing badly at playing Skandies swami à la Muse.
