Haven't looked at the clip yet, but it just dawned on me that a particularly egregious savant-turn could be #7. I mean, one much worse than Summer Phoenix. Just to be safe, an anticipatory "NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
The pixie ice princess and Naomi Watts are tied for first on my (imaginary) ballot. Which makes me a little weirded out by my preference for beleaguered women... (Sandler's Barry Egan and Recoing are my next two.)
Why are there so few good roles for women who aren't beleaguered? In addition to Bjork, Akinshina, Imelda Staunton, and Tang Wei, I had short-listed Watts, Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven, and Samantha Morton in Morvern Callar.
On the other hand, I also short-listed Anna Faris for SMILEY FACE.
YES ... YES ... YES ... my highest point-getter to appear so far (and of the two performances I has ahead of her, one has no chance, though the other might).
It was wishful thinking for this one to stay off the list, IMO. I felt very unclean after enduring the movie, but I suspect there were others who felt the same way yet admired Bjork's turn. If I were an actress I'd run for the hills if you told me Von Trier was directing me, but I must admit dickhead has gotten notable perfs out of his actresses, Bjork included. I suspect there's one more Von Trier perf up ahead. Don't know about Summer's chances at this point, tho.

Excellent job AVB. She would have been on my list (not that anyone cares).

(Cue rant in five...four...three...)
Why did I try to predict the final eight performances again?
Just think, if Von Trier hadn't been such a dickhead to work with we might've had 9 more years of Bjork performances! (Oh, wait...)

(in Ross Perot voice): Come on, people. Bee-YORK? In a frickin' DECADE poll? Now that's just sad....

I am genuinely shocked at this. I thought this was the Lars film just about everyone forgot.

It's good to see a good number of my faves place well in this pole even without my voting. Did anybody vote for Tang Wei?
