I wavered on whether to but Elle Fanning in lead or supporting, and I went with supporting. Seems more like the mother's story to me. (But then I haven't seen the movie in two years.)

Elle Fanning was amazing (and she was definitely the lead). But Kristen Stewart? Do Disney Audio-Animatronics qualify? Maybe I'm just biased because she totally creeps me out. I spent the whole movie wishing I could rip her face off.

I strongly suspect that if Kristen Stewart weren't in the Twilight movies, people wouldn't hate her so much.

Actually, I've never seen the Twilight movies, nor did I know she was in them when I saw Adventureland.

Do I feel like a loser for thinking that Stewart was the girl of my dreams in Adventureland.

I've liked Stewart fine in various films (though I thought she was as bland and forgettable as everything else about Adventureland), but find it utterly impossible to conceive of her playing Joan Jett. Did people buy it? I didn't read any Sundance coverage due to being spoilerphobic.

Re The Runaways, I for one look forward to Stewart acting with somebody else's hair for a change.

Au contraire. Stewart wouldn't be in the Twilight movies if she weren't a vapid husk of a human being. I mean, I see Ryan's point in that she was reasonably hot in Adventureland. But that's because of all the ambiance around her. She's like sexual tofu. She absorbs whatever energy (or lack thereof) surrounds her character but adds no discernible flavor.

And please, Kristen, close your gaping mouth. You look like a RealDoll.

Just to be clear, I wasn't even close to voting for Stewart. She made for a fetching indie girl from the 80s, that's all.

But yes, breath out of your nose once in a while, Kristen.

My happiness over HUMPDAY making the cut almost made me swallow my Kristin Stewart dissing. Almost.

Speaking of swallowing, her hard swallow when we first see her spot Ryan Reynolds is proof enough she doesn't deserve accolades for her performance in BLAHVENTURELAND. The tofu line is very fitting. Her physicality in the movie is tofu-like, too. Kind of wobbly, concave and sponge-y. Ewww. HUSKER DON'T.

Re: THE RUNAWAYS. K-Stew was fine as Jett, though bear in mind I find her sort of insanely attractive (is it legal for me to say that yet?), and I know relatively little about Joan Jett, so I have very little "feh" indie cred to maintain.

Dakota Fanning in that movie, on the other hand, was at her creepiest.

Honestly, I'm kind of gobsmacked to see that Dillinger on Dillinger didn't rate any higher here. That was a highlight of my moviegoing year. (And I was tickled to see that the writers of Dexter apparently got to see it in time to make a carbon copy.)

Bryant, I'm as puzzled as you are, especially seeing as that there were only two votes for it; nevertheless, I'm glad I decided to toss it 30 points. I knew these fuckers would let me down.
