The Mend is Magary's debut feature.
This is the first time Sarsgaard has placed in the lead category, but he's a former Skandies winner in Supporting (for Shattered Glass, 2003), and also placed 15th for Boys Don't Cry in 1999 and 17th last year for Night Moves. Leigh gets her first nod since 2007, when she placed 3rd in Supporting for Margot at the Wedding; her only other official placement is 17th in the lead category for Washington Square (1997), though her performance in Georgia was one of the five nominees in the survey's inaugural Oscar-style year (1995). (And we miiiight be seeing her again this year.) Holmes and Goggins are new.
Tarantino won Screenplay in 2009 for Inglourious Basterds, and also placed 17th for Jackie Brown (1997), 2nd for Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003), 8th for Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004), 6th for Grindhouse (2007), and 2nd again for Django Unchained (2012). He has never missed in this category for a film he also directed (but did miss for From Dusk Till Dawn).
Check back around noon Pacific/3pm Eastern for the annual rundown of "nominees."
