Granik didn't make the cut for Down to the Bone. (In fact, so few voters saw that film that even LAFCA Actress winner Vera Farmiga didn't place.)

Firth also placed 7th last year for A Single Man. The other three actors are new.

Baumbach previously placed 10th for co-writing The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou (2004), 9th for The Squid and the Whale (2005), 4th for Margot at the Wedding (2007), and 5th for co-writing Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009).

Oh man, progress, awarding a sourcumentary a top ten film of the year award. It's terrific filmmaking, and I'm hoping for a best scene slot, too. These opportunities are once a in a long while coming. Excellentement!
