HISTORY:Cronenberg previously placed 14th for Crash (1997) and 3rd for A History of Violence (2005).
Neeson, incredibly, makes his first appearance in the top 20 since 1996, when he placed 13th for Michael Collins. (His only big awards role during that period was Kinsey, but still. We have a top 20.) McDormand gets her seventh nod and her second this year; see #19 for details. Carano and Hiddleston are new.
None of Anatolia's three writers (who also collaborated on Three Monkeys) have ever placed before in this category.

Did everyone who voted for Gina Carano actually think she was a good actress, or vote for her ass-kicking ability? If the former, really? If the latter, does this mean we have Scott Adkins in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING coming up soon?
I'd love to see Adkins make the poll, but I fear not enough people saw UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING.
Wonder how "hei" Tim Heidecker is going to place. I thought Leaf Phoenix and Denis Levant were amazing, but even those could not withstand the brilliance and the comedy.
I saw UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING but did not vote for Adkins for the same reason I did not vote for Carano which is that all the scenes without asskicking exist. Although to be fair I did consider tossing points to Andrei Arlovski for best supporting actor because his ratio of thesping/asskicking is much more weighted to the latter.
Team Heidecker.
Most years I kinda struggle to fill out the Scene category; this year I was agonizing at stuff I had to cut. Didn't wind up voting for any of the scenes thus far, but good job AVB on your choices anyway (except KILLER JOE seriously people you worry me).
I'm glad other people remembered to vote for The Robbery sequence in KILLING THEM SOFTLY, I was really annoyed that I forgot to give that one points. Excellent scene.
