HISTORY:
This is Korine's first appearance in Best Director.
All of the actors are new save for Binoche, who gets her seventh career Skandies nod. The breakdown:
1996: 6s, The English Patient
2001: 13s, Code Unknown
2005: 11, Caché (Hidden)
2008: 5, Flight of the Red Balloon
2009: 13s, Summer Hours
2011: 3, Certified Copy
(For those wondering, Jiang Wu, who is Jiang Wen's brother, played the lead in A Touch of Sin's first segment.)
Kechiche's screenplay for The Secret of the Grain placed 20th in 2008, I am mildly surprised to find. His regular collaborator, Ms. Lacroix, is new, her only previous eligible film being Games of Love and Chance.
NOTE: My computer is being repaired, so for the moment I'm forced to post on my iPad. This presents problems with the poster images, as you'll surely notice; there's probably some way to resize them, but I can't be bothered, frankly.

So glad to see that Jiang Wu made it out of the Triad Zone.
Only #17 ... raaaaacist
I can't speak for anyone else, but the poster images look normal to me.
Thanks, Encyclopedia Gromit!
(It's smaller than usual, and for some reason it sometimes appears to me at actual size, so that it doesn't fit within the column width. Not sure what causes that glitch.)
Ms. Lacroix, actually. #malegazefail
Fixed! Not sure how I read Ghalia as a masculine name...
Sorry, Harmony. You'd have been higher if I'd gotten my shit together and actually voted. Bummer to see a female filmatist who directed her ass off place so low.
Harmony Korine is a man...
