Skandies: #7
Picture: Get Out (101/11)
Director: Olivier Assayas, Personal Shopper (119/11)
Actress: Kim Minhee, On the Beach at Night Alone (146/14)
Actor: Jean-Pierre Léaud, The Death of Louis XIV (98/10)
S. Actor: Woody Harrelson, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (96/8)
S. Actress: Elizabeth Marvel, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) (124/14)
Screenplay: Martin McDonagh, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (112/11)
Scene: Fight in the stairwell, Atomic Blonde (60/6)
[This is apparently just "Part one." There's more?]
HISTORY:
Assayas placed 6th for Irma Vep (1997), 14th for demonlover (2003), 5th for Summer Hours (2009), and 5th again for Carlos (2010). Weirdly, he finished way down at #32 for Clouds of Sils Maria. Not sure what happened there.
Harrelson was our #6 Actor way back in 1996, for The People vs. Larry Flynt; he also placed 10th for Rampart (2011). Kim placed 19th in Supporting last year for Right Now, Wrong Then. Léaud and Marvel are new. (I'd thought maybe Léaud had squeaked in for Irma Vep, but no.)
McDonagh is three for three. His screenplay for In Bruges (2008) landed at #5, and he just made the cut for Seven Psychopaths (2012) at #20.

Surprised Assayas was only (hah, "only") #6 for IRMA VEP, that might be one of the best directed films of the past several decades.
Swami Muse overestimated DUNKIRK. In review, here are his predictions for the Top 6:
01. NOCTURAMA
02. PHANTOM THREAD
03. DUNKIRK
04. MOTHER!
05. A GHOST STORY
06. PERSONAL SHOPPER
The Atlinator got FLORIDA PROJECT's spot wring, but otherwise he seemed to come up with a similar top 6:
1. NOCTURAMA
2. PHANTOM THREAD
3. CALL ME BY YOUR NAME
4. A GHOST STORY
5. THE FLORIDA PROJECT
6. mother!
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is placed pretty high here; Swami Muse has it all the way down at 10.
I know there are a lot of passionate mother! fuckers out there (not me!) so I see that hitting the top 5.
Atli's got me this year for sure. He also correctly guessed which films finished in the top 19; I missed one (picked MEYEROWITZ over STAYING VERTICAL). And given how close the 14-7 finishers are (fewer than 30 points separate STAYING VERTICAL from GET OUT), guessing the order of finishes now is almost pure luck.
Screenplay: Martin McDonagh, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (112/11)
This is about 112 points too many.
I'm fairly confident that Atli goes to the trouble of painstakingly constructing his predictions based on voters' published top ten lists/Letterboxd lists/Crix Pix votes. Because his guesses are precisely what you'd come up with if you did that. Not that I'd know from personal experience or anything...
All the fools who voted for BILLBOARDS in screenplay should quit their fucking jobs. The acting's fine; but McDonagh's "LOL she just said 'fuck piss or cunt' in a row!!" way of dialogue can fuck right off.
My previous comment seemed unnecessarily hostile, so I'll add that I'm glad to see some support for Liz Marvel and Kim (tho I predicted both to rank higher).
All the fools who let Anonymous post here should quit their fucking jobs. The points are fine; but his "LOL he just wrote 'fuck' twice!!" way of posting can sod off.
In a year I was unusually out of step with the rest of the AVB, my #1 choices in the categories are now almost all gone, unnominated. Only Nixon and Metcalf are left (technically Zhao is too but that was an obvious no-hoper).
Film: THE SALESMAN
Director: Zhao, BEHEMOTH
Script: Farhadi, THE SALESMAN
Lead male: Franco, DISASTER ARTIST
Lead female: Nixon, A QUIET PASSION
Supporting male: Harrelson, 3 BILLBOARDS
Supporting female: Metcalf, LADY BIRD
(I don't rank scenes)
My predictions for who'll win, ftr:
Film: Phantom Thread
Director: either PTA or Bonello
Actress: Ronan
Actor: Kaluuya
S. Actor: Dafoe
S. Actress: Metcalf (or Manville?)
Scene: something from Phantom Thread, probably
