Haynes finished 2nd in 2002 for Far From Heaven (and was a 1995 nominee for Safe).

Former Best Actress winner Ricci (Buffalo '66, 1998) makes her fifth appearance, having also finished 2nd in Supporting for The Ice Storm (1997), 3rd in 1998 for The Opposite of Sex (1998), and 17th in Supporting for Monster (2003). All of the other actors (and Gilroy) are new, even though Affleck was equally awesome last year in Lonesome Jim, which almost nobody saw.

Wow. I can't believe the coin toss scene only earned #7 status. That'd be my #1 for 2007.

The shot from the back seat of the car with Ines's hair blowing back in "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" would be #2. Not a scene in itself, but breathtaking.

Just saw "Lonesome Jim." Awesome, awesome. (BEAT. "I've heard great things about New Orleans.") I'm glad you gave that film a shout-out in your Esquire piece on Casey or I never would've known about it.
